We also offer affordable counselling to Midwives, and provide services for Workplace Wellness.
Our collective of counsellors are professionally trained to help you navigate those tricky times in life. From depression to grief, loss, anxiety and trauma and managing life’s changes. Our team also have specialist training and professional development to help support those in the Perinatal period. Our counsellors genuinely relate – many have experienced perinatal or other life periods of distress, and all of them are parents.
The cost of our counselling for Parents and Midwives is subsidised by our generous donors, fundraising events and grants.
We offer counselling across Wellington, from Newtown to Johnsonville, Petone, Upper Hutt, and Paraparaumu.
Prices range from $45 – $85 depending on your counsellors experience and qualification. We also offer counselling in Japanese, Mandarin and within kaupapa Maori.
You can book in, and check counsellor availability nearest you, here.
We are committed to removing as many barriers to attending as possible for parents. All of our venues are child friendly, and you can bring babies 2 years and under if you need to."
"Prices seem out of reach? MSD offer support with counselling when you meet their income threshold criteria or hold a community services card. Check your eligibility here, or download an application form to take straight to your GP, see here. Any of our Provisional or Full NZAC members can support you if you’re accessing this subsidy, making the fee just a very small one."

Being pregnant or welcoming a new baby into the whānau is an exciting and special time. But it can also be stressful, emotional and overwhelming.
It is understandable that if you are expecting a baby, or have recently given birth, you may feel uncertain or stressed about how you and baby will be affected by the COVID-19 outbreak and lockdown.
The COVID-19 lockdown means that the way we support wāhine hapū (pregnant women), new māmā and their whānau needs to be different.
You will still have high quality care and access to services during pregnancy and after birth, but the way these are delivered will be different to ensure that we minimise the risk of spreading COVID-19. Your midwife or other care provider is able to provide you with details about these changes. You can also visit The Ministry of Health and the New Zealand College of Midwives websites which have detailed information about how pregnancy and birthing services will be provided at this time.
The links below contain key information for pregnant women and new parents and describes how the delivery of maternity services will continue during the COVID-19 lockdown.
